Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a prevalent chronic metabolic disease characterized by inability to secrete enough insulin from the pancreas which in turn leads to hyperglycemia and a sequalae of health problems that lead to significant morbidity and mortality. T2DM has been in the increasing over the last decade because of the aging population and lifestyle changes that promote obesity. Because of the significant social and economic impact resulting from the DM and its associated complications, it has become a priority health problem in the 21st century according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Healthcare providers have a huge role not only in the medical management of DM, but also on the delay or prevention of T2DM and its complications on people at risk of this condition.

During this webinar with Dr Nadir Kheir we will review the goals of T2DM management, explain how T2DM is diagnosed, list the goals of T2DM management, discuss evidence-based treatment approaches with emphasis on nonpharmacologic, preventative, and self-monitoring strategiesand recognize the role of Healthcare Practitioners (including pharmacists) in diabetes management
